Vegetarian food is widely available in most grocery stores. Vegetarian foods are easy to cook. There are hundreds of great vegetarian cookbooks – some are listed at the bottom of this page. Possibility the biggest difficulty in moving to a vegetarian diet is you will be learning more about a much wider variety of foods. If you are sick of 75 ways to cook bland chicken you are going to love discovering this variety.
You don’t have to become a total vegetarian overnight. You can be a part vegetarian and continue to eat fish, milk and eggs, etc.
All vegetarian diets are not low in fat. Generally they are lower in fat but foods like nuts, seeds, avocado and some soy foods can be high in vegetable fat. All vegetable cooking oils are all fat. Eating too much cheese and other dairy products can also be high in fat. But, most vegetarian diets are usually much lower in fats than non-vegetarian diets.
Tips on becoming a vegetarian:
* Get a good vegetarian cookbook.
* Start reading food labels. Many non-meat foods contain meat by products.
* Check out a local health food store – then visit your usual grocery store with what you found in mind.
* Ask questions.
* Buy fresh vegetables and produce instead of canned or dried.
