What is Tamiflu
Tamiflu is the brand name of Oseltamivir phosphate. Tamiflu is the medicine to block the harmful effects of influenza virus of types A and B. It is used to treat those patients who are suffering from the illness due to influenza virus.
Tamiflu is manufactured and marketed by Roche pharmaceuticals. This drug is classified under the group of medicines known as neuraminidase inhibitors.
Tamiflu dosage
The normal Tamiflu capsule dosage for adults and adolescents is 75mg of it twice a day for five days. The dosage of Tamiflu should start within 48 hours of having contact with flu else the efficacy of the drug would not be enough to get a patient cured. Introduction of Tamiflu in excess may cause mild to moderate nausea and vomiting in a small number of patients using the drug. Though Tamiflu dosage can be taken with or without food, intake of the drug with food may enhance the tolerability in a patient.
One should take tamiflu dosage as directed or prescribed by doctor. Do not take excess of tamiflu bird flu medicine as this may cause harsh side effects. It is recommended to start the treatment as early as possible when you see any symptoms like fever, chills, muscles ache, runny nose, or sore throat.
Try not to miss any dose. If you have missed a dose by mistake, take that dose as soon as you remember. Do not overdose this medicine. One should seek medical treatment if overdosed this medicine.
One can easily find symptoms of tamiflu overdose as nausea and vomiting.
Tamiflu side effects
Side effects like bronchitis, vertigo and sleepless may also be visible during its intake. Hence proper consultation with a doctor should be done before starting its dosage. Individuals with allergy, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases should tell his or her medical history to the doctor before starting its dosage.
