Pregnancy Week & Trimester
The average length of a pregnancy is 40 weeks or three trimesters. A woman goes through different physical, emotional, and psychological changes during the gestational period. Each week and trimester pose different challenges which may not be the same with every pregnant woman. Women who skip their periods must get their pregnancy test done after 2-3 weeks for confirmation and stay in touch with a gynaecologist to track their pregnancy and development of the baby.
In this section, you can learn more about week-by-week and trimester-wise information that can help in planning and managing a healthy pregnancy. It is important to stay updated to track the progress and report any problem to the doctor for immediate assistance. This includes symptoms, possible health issues, complications and management tips by doctors and experts. Apart from maternal health, this section also covers the health and development of the foetus. You will get to read about baby development and necessary measures to ensure a healthy gestation and delivery.
Trimester-wise symptoms
- Trimester (1-12 weeks): Vomiting, nausea, mood swings, headaches, indigestion, constipation, cravings, and aversion.
- Trimester (14-27 weeks): Changes in breast size, ligament pains, swelling around fingers and ankles.
- Third trimester (29-40 weeks): Frequent urination, heartburn, swollen feet, insomnia breathlessness, haemorrhoids, breasts leakage, foetal movements, and contractions.
Prenatal care is very important. Pregnant women must visit the doctor regularly to monitor foetal development and ensure good maternal health. Stay close to family members and loved ones for emotional support that you would need during these nine months to cope with stress, anxiety, and other psychological and emotional issues during pregnancy
