Lose Weight Fast

Posted in General Health by admin on the March 2nd, 2006

To lose weight fast is often the first step in changing your diet. Fast weight loss gives you the immediate reward you may need to keep going.

You have to be careful not to burn your desire out while you are burning out those first few pounds

Fast weight loss is achievable. There are several ways to lose 5 to 10 pounds in a week. And, to be honest about my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with losing a few pounds in a hurry for a special event. It is a most human desire.

One of the most time tested fast weight lose diets is the Scarsdale Diet. I’ve used it. You have probably used it. You can get a free copy of this diet by signing up for our news letter on the left. Or you can get a complete E-Book on this diet at Scarsdale Diet E-Book.

What happens after you lose the 5 or 10 pounds fast?

Here is an important thing to remember about fast weight loss. It is all about timing. Your body, regardless of your weight, can really only lose about two pounds a week on a sustainable basis. So after you have been on any fast weight loss program for 1 or 2 weeks, your body is going to start talking to you and you are not going to like what it says.

First, it is going to stop losing weight. Second, it will probably put the weight back on.

What’s my advice?

If you need to lose a little to wear something special in a week - go ahead.

But…

If you like the way you look after losing a few pounds fast, make a real committment to get on a sustainable diet - like the e-diets programs.

So, fast weight loss is a real and achievable goal if you understand that it is a temporary goal. Permanent weight loss takes more time. This doesn’t mean don’t ever go on a fast weight lose diet - it just means be honest.

Here is my advice

You are going to have to accept that you will only be able to loss 1 to 2 pounds a week on average. It’s that average thing that causes everyone problems. Your first few days you will probably loss more. You will probably eat to little and not drink enough.

Then your body will stop using calories the same way and go into a defensive mode. You will stop losing or even gain a pound back while you are still eating less. This is your first challenge and it is where so many people give up.

Here is how to avoid this

Admit that you are going to be on a diet for a long, long time. Don’t get on the scales everyday - wait until the end of the week. This avoids the daily highs and lows.

Don’t think you can do it all at once. You are better off eating a little more in the first week than your diet allows and getting your body to adjust slowly instead of getting it in a defensive mode.

As to which diet I would recommend, it depends on whether you think having people locally to work with will help you or not.

I have used both local support groups - NutriSystem was the one that worked best for me - and dieted on my own with a book or online diet. Online diets from E-Diets are what I am currently using and I am very pleased with it.

Here is my comparison

NutriSystem provides you with food to eat and a weekly meeting. The food makes cooking and shopping so easy. This is truly no brainier dieting. When I used this diet, the rest of my family ate regular meals and I ate the NutirSystem meals. I was satisfied with my meals and did not have any problem eating off my kids plate. The meetings were good for information and support. I lost a lot of weight - over 50 pounds - and kept it off for years. So why am I not using it again? To be honest - I just do not want meetings at this point in my life.

E-Diets has an incredible amount of information available. They give you weekly menus, you shop and cook. I get regular e-mails from them for support. They will work with you to create a custom diet for your any medical issues if you ask. I am online so much these days that this format is working well for me. A plus is that I had to make the commitment myself and I have to hold myself accountable.

Which ever way you go, good luck. I know you can do it!
