Anemia is a blood disorder in which the blood’s ability to carry oxygen gets affected due to a reduction in the amount of hemoglobin. It happens when the body doesn't produce healthy red blood cells which carry oxygen to the other body organs. One of the most common conditions is  Iron deficiency anemia, where our body is unable to produce enough hemoglobin because of a lack of red blood cells. This makes us feel agitated, exhausted, and weak. The inability of the body to create enough healthy red blood cells is known as anemia. Nutritionist Sapna Jaysingh Patel shares five best foods rich in iron to combat anemia. People with low hemoglobin must add these to their diet to prevent anemia.

Anemia may be inherited or develop over time since the red blood cells require more time to form. Women are more prone to anemia in comparison to men. One of the causes that prove the facts is that women go through menstruation every month. Whereas some women experience light bleeding, others go through heavy bleeding. Heavy bleeding is one of the causes that can also result in anemia. Women who have not yet reached menopause may be more susceptible to iron deficiency since menstruation results in significant blood loss. People who suffer from chronic illnesses like cancer or kidney failure may also be at serious risk.

Having low hemoglobin can be vicious as it makes it difficult for the body to perform basic functions. Consuming iron rich-food can be the healthiest way to cure anemia and increase the number of red blood cells and hemoglobin which leads to improvements in the body and causes it to function better. Foods like meat, fish, tofu, eggs, dried fruits, nuts, and seeds are rich in iron for the increased level of hemoglobin.
