Home remedies to get rid of head lice overnight
Lice are tiny parasitic insects that live by sucking on human blood. They are usually found on your head but can also infest your eyelashes, eyebrows, pubic hair and other hairy parts of the body. You can repeat this everyday until the lice gets eliminated.
Essential oils
Essential oils such as lavender oil, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil are beneficial for eliminating head lice permanently and that too faster than other home remedies. You can mix a few drops of any essential oil with coconut oil or olive oil. This wil help in removing the dryness on your scalp and hair. The lice and eggs are easy to remove if you apply oils. However, just make sure that you are not allergic to essential oils.
Petroleum jelly
Petroleum jelly is also another useful home remedy that helps in suffocating the lice and their eggs, this easier and faster removal. Petroleum jelly has a greasy component because of which the lice gets stuck in your hair and then you can take it out with a comb. If you have an allergy from lice shampoo/oil, petroleum jelly is one of the best options to get rid of it. It is readily available in the market and stores online.
Coconut oil and camphor
You can take coconut oil and camphor and mix it in a bowl. Coconut oil will help in smothering the lice and the camphor will eliminate them as it contains anti-parasitic properties. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of crushed camphor. Make a smooth paste and apply it on your scalp. Let it stay overnight and rinse it off in the morning. Apply this home remedy atleast for a week to get rid of head lice.
Olive oil
Just like coconut oil, olive oil can also be used to smother and kill head lice overnight. You can gently apply olive oil all over your scalp. Then, cover your head with a shower cap and go to sleep. The next morning, brush your hair using a special head lice comb and get rid of the lice easily. Preferably, wash your hair using tea tree herbal shampoo for more effective results. You can follow this home remedy until the head lice gets eliminated.
Garlic
Another desi and age old home remedy to get rid of head lice is garlic. Garlic and onion juice irritates the lice and makes them blind, which helps in restricting their movement. In fact, this homemade garlic onion juice can also help the lice to fall down on its own. You can even apply crushed garlic cloves on your scalp to rove head lice overnight. Do not forget to comb your hair after applying.
Salt and vinegar
Salt and vinegar can help in creating more moisture to get rid of head lice easily. Take three tablespoons of salt and 5 tablespoon vinegar and mix it in a bowl or spray bottle. You can spray or apply this solution on your scalp and hair. Cover your head with a shower cap and let it stay for atleast a few hours. Rinse it off and apply conditioner on your hair so that it doesn't get dry. Do this for three days to get more effective results.

Neem and tulsi hair mask can be applied on your scalp to get rid of head lice overnight. Neem contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. On the other hand, tulsi helps in improving the blood circulation and reduces itching. Blend both the leaves and make a thick paste with coconut oil in it. Apply this hair mask on your scalp. Let it stay overnight and wash your head in the morning.
