Childhood Obesity 2
5. The number and size of fat Cells.
The body stores new Fat either by increasing the number of fat cells (hyperplasia), or by increasing the size of existing fat cells (hypertrophy). This is one of the most important reasons to control Childhood Obesity, since new fat cells are primarily formed during childhood. Each year of adding extra fat cells makes Adult Obesity more difficult to fight.
6. For effective, healthy and permanent weight management, understand that your Obese or Overweight Child or teen should reduce inches of body fat rather than merely lose weight.
It is important to understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss. When you lose weight, you mostly lose water and muscle but just a small amount of fat. This explains why people can lose weight but still be overweight. When they resume normal eating habits, the lost muscle tissue is replaced with even more fat. If they only lose weight, they run the risk of getting even fatter than they were before they dieted. This is known popularly as the “Yo-Yo Syndrome.” Losing inches of fat, not weight loss is the answer to successful weight management.
Fat has no calorie- burning capability. Muscle is the only tissue in the body capable of burning calories, it burns calories even when we are resting. Therefore, if our diets cause us to lose muscle, our bodies will diminish their ability to burn calories.
7. How to make Your Child’s body get rid of excess body fat?
All body processes require energy to run properly. When the body is expending more energy than it is taking in (e.g. when exercising), body cells rely on internally-stored energy sources, like complex carbohydrates created by the body. When that source of energy is nearly depleted, the body begins Lipolysis, which is the metabolism of fat for energy. During this process (Lipolysis), fats obtained from fat cells are broken down into glycerol and fatty acids, which can be used by the body to make energy. When the body metabolizes (burns) fat, it creates substances called ketones. The Ketogenic diet tries to force the body to use more fat for energy instead of sugar(glucose) by restricting carbohydrates, especially the ones that fastly become fat, that is, those of the high-glycemic type, such as sugary and starchy foods. Therefore, the key is to deny the body these food products.
This (Lipolytic) concept, when applied with moderation on a child or teen’s dietary regime, could become very efficient in accomplishing body fat reduction. It has also been shown to be successful in reducing epileptic seizures in some children.
8. Your child’s dietary habits could greatly improve by eating according to his/her specific blood type.
There is no easy solution, much less a “ magic wand ” to the weight management problem. However, by now–after more than two decades of evidence – we know at least some concepts that have failed miserably, such as the “ fat free “ nutritional nonsense, the high carbo-hydrate / low protein diet, as well as the erroneous idea of considering weight-to-height as the correct measurement of success, instead of body fat reduction.
Therefore, when developing this website, I wanted to put together – and hope I’ve had – information that will definitely become truly effective guidelines for parents when dealing with the overfatness/obesity condition of their children. Bottom line is getting long-term healthy results, by achieving reduction of inches in our kids’ overall body measurements (instead of merely losing weight), and accomplishing it in an effective and permanent mode, while preserving and/or increasing our children’s body energy level in the process. Consequently, I now introduce you to a school of nutritional thought that pays good dividends, and which have been tried successfully by hundreds of my patients during the last few years, that is, eating food which is compatible with your specific blood type. This is the well-researched nutritional concept from the masterminds of Drs. James and Peter Adamo, who jointly have gathered more than 50 years of clinical evidence to back up their outstanding work.
The genetic profile of man has never changed, and through the evolution survival of civilization, four different blood types developed, which means that besides physical traits from our ancestors, we have also inherited the characteristics on how to metabolize (use for energy) the food we eat and drink. In other words, we each handle differently–in accordance with our specific blood type, say it be O, A, B, or AB – our digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
We must understand that the human body is a wonderful and complex organism. It tries to handle everything you put in it. Unfortunately, sometimes it cannot or will not handle things successfully, and damage results to your body. Some foods are contrary to your blood type, and cause you harm. Specifically, improper “agglutination” can happen. Let me explain briefly what this means. If you eat food that is incompatible with your blood type, it will not be broken down or digested properly. The vitamins, minerals and nutrients will not be absorbed into your bloodstream to fuel and nourish your body. Your body will react to the unwelcomed food as it would to any foreign substance. You might have constipation, or a stomach ache, flatulence (gas), bloating, and even vomiting, diarrhea or weight gain (in the form of excess body fat). What happens is antibodies “glue” themselves to the foreign invaders (the incompatible food) in your blood; this is called “agglutination”. This agglutination might be limited to just weight gain, but it could even affect your immune system and cause it to malfunction.
When agglutination happens in your body, your body does not use the food, so it just packs on the extra pounds. You may not even be eating much, but you are still gaining weight(fat) and you don’t know why;prevent this by eating according to your specific blood type.
In conclusion, For Your Kids, besides advising to add oxygenation (aerobic exercise) and hydration (water);in terms of dietary habits, I’ll wholeheartedly recommend your limiting his/her intake of sugary and starchy foods as well as excess protein(too much meat), and consider their eating based on avoiding foods that are antagonistic to his/her blood type.
For your information, these are the least-digestible and thus, most fattening foods for your kids, according to his/her blood type :
