Underweight
When the BMI of an adult is below 18.5, they are considered to be underweight. The main reason for this could be the inadequacy of nutrients in the body. The person may not be getting enough nutrients to develop bones, muscles, skin and hair. This can cause an array of health problems such as:
- Osteoporosis or brittle bones

- Irregular periods in women
- Impaired and slow growth in children that doctors call ‘failure to thrive’
- Risk of premature birth in pregnant underweight woman
Healthy Weight

Usually, people falling in this category are at no risk of health problems due to their body weight. However, this score needs to be maintained as per age, height and weight. You are healthy now doesn’t mean you will remain healthy. One should manage their weight with advancing age.
Overweight
If you have a BMI between 25 to 29.9, you are highly likely to be overweight. This can be controlled by taking proper measures such as physical activeness, modifications in diet, healthy lifestyle, etc. There are many reasons why you could be overweight such as consuming more carbs and fats, poor activity levels and psychological factors. Being overweight can risk your health and cause these problems:
