The flush on the cheek gives an instant glow to the face. Some may be blessed with a naturally-flushed skin while others may resort to the use of blush as a part of their makeup regime. Did you know that applying blush the wrong way can spoil the whole look? Like we know that each face shape and complexion may require different skincare and makeup regime, the same goes with the application of blush too. In this article below, we bring to you a detailed list on the different face types and the right way to apply blush for an instantly glowing face.

Round Face

When the length of your face is equal to the width of your face then the shape of your face is round. For people with round faces the ideal way to apply blush is to sweep the blush away from your ears  through your cheekbones towards your mouth. Doing so will help you in creating an illusion of a slimmer face. Apply a bit of blush onto your chin in order to make your face look a little longer.

Do not use a highly reflective blusher on your face as it will reflect the light and will make your face look even rounder. Try and opt for a matte blush instead.

Rectangular Face

People with a width similar to that of their forehead are said to have a rectangle shaped face. People with this facial shape should try and apply blush below their cheekbone in order to define them. In addition to this, these people should also focus upon blending the blush in with your hairline. This trick is said to be very effective in softening out the edges of your face and making it appear rounder in shape by creating an illusion of reduced angles.

When your forehead is slightly broader than the chin and the cheekbones are the most prominent part of the face then it is considered to be an oval shaped face. The idea here is to highlight the most prominent part of the face that are the cheekbones. In order to do all you need to do is place the colour just above the bone rather than blending it into the hollow beneath. Doing so will help you in getting that flushed look while providing a lifting effect to your face.

Heart Face

A face shape that starts off with a broad forehead and becomes narrow as it goes down to the chin. People with this facial shape have high cheekbones as it gets narrower as it goes down.

With this facial shape the main aim is to soften up the pointy edges of the faceface.  Doing so will make it appear more like the oval one.

In order to soften up the pointy areas of this face type start by applying the blush onto the outer corners of the cheekbone. While starting off at the edge of your cheekbones, take it upwards towards the outer corner of your eyes. Take some of the blush and apply it onto the temples of your forehead starting from the hairline towards the center of your forehead to soften up the sharp edges and balance the width of forehead with the chin.

Oblong Face

An elongated face shape that lies somewhere in between the oval and rectangular face shape, oblong is a face shape where the width of the forehead, cheekbones and chin are more or less similar to each other. The main aim here is to reduce the width of the face and make it appear a bit slimmer. To do so, what you can do is apply the blush on a point just below the outer corner of your eye in the direction of the cheekbones. This will not just help to provide a slimmer illusion to your face but also to make your features look a but short.
