Male Flu and Female Flu

Influenza or flu is caused by a virus. The virus enters body cells and changes the DNA in there to include its own DNA code. When the cells reproduce the virus reproduces too. Eventually the body recognizes the DNA altered cells as being foreign and kills them. When all the altered cells have been reabsorbed you will recover from the flu.

Flu symptoms bear a passing resemblance to a heavy cold in humans, but the symptoms go on to include muscle aches and pains, lack of energy to do the most basic tasks and sometimes chest infections.

It is the chest infections that kill old people and infants who develop influenza. This is why it is recommended that older people should be given a flu vaccine. The vaccine is available each autumn and gives some protection against the current flu virus that year. The vaccine changes each year to cope with the changing DNA of the flu virus, so the vaccine must be re-administered each year for the maximum protection.

Cancer Treatment and Over the Counter Supplements

With the number of people with cancer continuing to rise in America, people are looking to traditional medicine, supplements and alternative treatments to help them. Normally in the form of minerals, herbs and vitamins these things are usually fairly widely available in grocery or health food stores and pharmacies.

However, it is important that you do not affect your treatment plan, and there are some things that you need to take into consideration when using these medicines.

While vitamins and minerals offer benefits to the body’s overall health ~ except when taken in excess ~ they can sometimes disrupt certain forms of treatment in cancer patients. It’s also a fact that herbal supplements and certain minerals are not necessarily approved by the FDA, simply because they’re on the pharmacy shelf.

In order for a product to be removed from the shelves, the FDA must show proof that it’s unsafe. What’s more, manufacturers of such products are not required by law to publish any of the possible side effects on the label.

Weight Loss and Emotional Eating

Do our emotions change our eating habits? Recent scientific studies suggest that the answer may be yes. We know that body chemistry affects our emotion, and women say that hormone changes when they are pregnant or throughout their menstrual cycle cause craving and affect eating patterns.

An Australian study cited by Prevention.com suggested that there are foods that, when eaten, have the beneficial effect of raising serotonin levels, so people may eat them as self-medication when experiencing stress or lots of emotion. This was demonstrated in another part of the study, which showed that women watching a sad movie ate 20 percent more chocolate than women watching a travelogue.

Nowadays, the pace of living is fast, and people move often and live in spread-out, anonymous neighborhoods. Close family networks and neighborhood socializing, which may have helped prevent stress in the past, as well as provide entertainment, have largely disappeared. Now, food serves as a comfort to many people, especially those large numbers of us who live sedentary lives between sitting in front of the computer at work and sitting in front of the television at home.

Abortion – Never an easy Decision

Abortion is a sensitive subject for most people. Many people have strong opinions either For or Against.

Others opinions may matter at times, but when it’s your 16 year old daughter who has made a mistake and is pregnant, you have to take a fresh look at the whole issue.

It is best to keep emotions out of the decision as far as possible, though even in the early weeks of pregnancy the pregnant woman’s hormones usually make a decision to have an abortion more difficult than anticipated. The woman’s hormones are adjusting to protect the fetus.

Body: Heal Thyself

The human body is nothing short of remarkable. It can, simply with a little time, heal its own cuts, make scrapes vanish and scars fade. Hair and fingernails can be cut and groomed again and again, but they are always replenished. The body is amazingly complex, delicate and strong at once, with the mind-reeling ability to heal itself in any number of ways. Most minor problems don’t even require medical attention. However, when a bigger problem, such as trouble with a major organ like the heart, liver or kidneys occurs, doctors step in to aid the body in its own natural healing process.

For centuries doctors and healers in the modern worlds have put their full attention on the physical body, the mechanism itself. The body was basically treated like a machine. As new understanding was gained of the power of one’s thinking, feeling, and emotions, the body began to be understood as interconnected with the environment, the society, and not at all as a machine. Now, rather than relying on surgery or drugs, people are looking to less invasive techniques to promote their health.

Pericardial Mesothelioma

Pericardial mesothelioma is an extremely atypical form of asbestos-related cancer which affects the lining surrounding the heart and generally is associated with long-term contact with asbestos materials. Asbestos, actually, is to blame for a lot of the cancerous rudiments and many lung/respiratory problems.

The facts about asbestos did not begin to emerge until the late 1900’s when factory workers began to experience profound lung problems and the risks became associated to their asbestos-laden workplaces.

Pericardial mesothelioma disease is a cancer that usually presents itself in malignant forms throughout the body as tumors in and around the vital organs. The classification of the word “mesothelioma” actually comes from it being, exactly, cancer of the mesothelium. The mesothelium is the sac that lines and protects the vital organs so mesothelioma causes the lining to become filled with tumors and to become malignant.

Menopause – All Part Of Human Nature

Menopause is a natural part of a woman’s life. Technically, it is the stopping of periods or menses. The average age is 52 however menopause can occur in the thirties or sixties. Perimenopause is the time around menopause – usually the 2-5 years before but sometimes women have symptoms 10-15 years before stopping their periods. The time of menopause for woman can be dramatic.

Menopause is usually unique for every woman but every woman does stop having periods. Some common symptoms associated with menopause include hot spells during the day- hot flashes, night sweats- heavy sweating at different times of the night, weight gain, emotional ups and downs, and loss of sexual desire. All of the symptoms of menopause can be mild or severe. Many of these symptoms are caused by hormonal imbalances and changes, not necessarily estrogen loss. They are also related to diet, lifestyle, and genetic factors.

Many women reach fifty years of age working 60 hours a week, taking care of a family, children and parents, and have little time for themselves. Their hormones are burnt out and have little reserve for dealing with this natural period of menopause. Basically, during menopause the body is resetting our hormones for the second half. It would be easier if women had more time to relax and go with the flow during menopause, but few have that chance.
